Apple AirTag 2 Reportedly Set to Launch Alongside iPhone 17 Series Next Month

One of the few items in Apple’s gadget lineup that hasn’t seen a lot of updates in recent years is the AirTag. Since the introduction of the first-generation AirTag in 2021, just a few new features have been introduced via software upgrades. The introduction of its successor, though, may at last be in the cards. The AirTag 2 may be unveiled during Apple’s September event, along with the iPhone 17 range and other items, according to reports.

Apple AirTag 2 Launch Date, Price

According to reports, the Apple AirTag 2 will be released at Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event on September 9. Given that the Bluetooth tracker is an iPhone accessory, the Cupertino-based tech giant would make a lot of sense to launch it alongside the rumored TechWoven cases.

Pricing for the Apple AirTag 2 is yet to be revealed. Notably, the first-generation AirTag was launched in April 2021 with a price tag of Rs. 3,190 for a single piece and Rs. 10,999 for a pack of four. It currently retails for Rs. 3,490 and Rs. 11,900, respectively.

Apple AirTag 2 Features

A new Ultra-Wideband (UWB chip is anticipated to be included with the Apple AirTag 2. It is said to be comparable to the chip found in the iPhone 15. Its inclusion in the AirTag 2 could improve the range of the Precision Finding feature, allowing users to more easily track and locate missing or stolen items.

The AirTag 2’s design is said to be almost identical to that of the existing version. But the improvements will be made internally. The speculations suggest that it would have improved privacy measures, such as a speaker that would be harder to detach from the Bluetooth tracker.

AirTag and other Bluetooth trackers have been utilized for nefarious purposes in recent years, such as stalking. Apple will implement privacy-oriented modifications for the AirTag 2, even if procedures have been implemented to address these issues.
