Health Foundry aims to improve health and wellbeing by bringing together a wide range of people, start-ups and organisations and supporting them to create scalable digital health solutions.
Located at Canterbury House, opposite St Thomas’ Hospital in Waterloo, the Health Foundry is powered by Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity and provides a supportive environment for digital health start-ups including a collaborative workspace designed by Architecture 00, a growing community of peers within the health and digital tech sectors, as well as access to a team who will facilitate connections with people both in- and outside the NHS.
Health Foundry is a pilot project conceived by Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity. The Charity invest nearly £7 million a year in innovative ideas that improve health and wellbeing. Over the past few years an increasing number of these projects have been in digital health and the Charity wanted to invest in a space that can help support and scale these projects, as well as benefiting the wider digital health community. They found project partner Architecture 00 through seeing the work they had done building and managing workspaces under the Impact Hub brand and work began on the site of a disused children’s nursery in June this year. We opened our doors at the beginning of September with a month long festival of events that culminated in our launch Summit where we welcomed over 120 technologists, clinicians and healthcare professionals to an inspiring two days of provocations, keynotes and topical panels.

As part of a larger group we have sister companies in the UK and Ireland, with a combined turnover of £30 million.

Cupris was founded by Jules Hamann, a Consultant ENT Surgeon, and Paul Thomas, an award-winning designer and entrepreneur, to develop medical devices that exploit smartphone technology to improve healthcare communication.
Jules felt that a significant proportion of the patients he saw in clinic could be cared for without coming to see him in person. We believe that smartphone technology can enable examinations to take place closer to the patient’s home and away from over-crowded hospitals.
Cupris Health’s first medical device is an otoscope that can easily be attached to your smartphone and used to capture clinical images and videos of the eardrum. It comprises a smartphone app and software platform that enables the remote diagnosis and management of patient conditions.
Each employee at Cupris Health cares deeply about revolutionising healthcare delivery and making a profound difference to people’s lives through the work that we do.
We empower patients and create better tools for healthcare professionals to provide improved care. We enhance existing relationships between doctors and patients using ubiquitous technology to transform healthcare communication.
We allow healthcare professionals to discuss patient cases with their peers and request specialist advice from their colleagues to improve patient outcomes.
We enable patients to be treated wherever they are, no matter how remote, and believe that providing equal access to healthcare for everyone is an essential step in the future of healthcare.
Our Business Philosophy
Like most software companies, we are passionate about our products. But first we are passionate about our customers. We’re here for your benefit. This drives what we do and how we behave. We strive for excellence in everything – from product development to sales and customer support.
Our Customer Support Philosophy
Our goal is for you to have a positive, “Wow!” experience every time you contact InterSystems customer support. We put our best people on the front lines of support, and we do not ration their time. That means that your first contact with customer support will be with an engineer who can address your problem and take responsibility for resolving it – at the level and speed you request.
Our Product Philosophy
Our products are designed around the idea that lives and livelihoods depend on them to work properly and reliably. It’s easy to see how this applies in healthcare, where InterSystems technology supports the health records of more than 300 million people worldwide. But it’s equally true in other industries. In financial services, for example, InterSystems-based applications support livelihoods by processing 15% of the world’s equity trades every day.
Further, faster is an online resource for health tech SMEs who want practical tips and advice on how to work with the NHS.
The digitising of the NHS is happening, slowly, across England. However, health tech entrepreneurs report finding it difficult to get their solutions into the NHS, so much so that we risk losing the brightest and best companies overseas, where they are finding they can do business.
Further, faster is the result of a series of open conversations with a group of digital and healthcare experts convened by ZPB. It offers practical insights and recommendations on how SMEs and the NHS can work together more effectively, including case studies from SMEs who have successfully embedded their product into an NHS organisation.
The site is a continually evolving resource and offers a route for sharing challenges and successes.
